PGR4 with NXE
Hi,
Me and my friends have noticed that the sound of the engines is kinda weird when PGR4 is installed on the hard drive, there's like a crackling noice.
So I was just wondering if we could expect an update to sort this out?
Thanks.

No not from Bizarre, you would have to ask Microsoft

Hi,
I have also noticed this when playing PGR 4 from the hard drive. There have also been a couples of posts made on the official xbox forums about this.

Re: PGR4 with NXE
Yes we've heard this too. I'm not sure whether the problem is with the hard-drive implementation or the way PGR4 handles it's sound effects, but unfortunately it's very unlikely that there will be a fix for this from Bizarre. Given that we're now part of Activision and have completely handed over everything PGR-related to Microsoft, any future product updates would have to come from them.
Sorry about that. I'd suggest playing the game from the disc to avoid the issue.
Cheers,
Ben

Re: PGR4 with NXE
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but has anyone tried installing PGR4 to a USB memory stick? If so, does the the sound corruption occur like when it's installed to the HDD?
If someone could give it a try I would be really grateful as if the issue doesn't occur, I'd buy a USB memory stick just so I can play this game without the constant noise of the spinning DVD drive.
Thanks

Re: PGR4 with NXE
I'll give the install on a USB flash drive a try, I've got a 16GB drive laying about. To be honest, I can't see it fixing the issue but won't know unless I try
Edit: installed PGR4 on the USB flash drive, the sound will still corrupt at times, although it's not quite as horrid as when it occurs when playing from the HDD. The sound perhaps streams faster from flash memort vs the HDD. I'd say playing from the DVD is still the best option, USB flash drive second, with the HDD being the "worst".
One benefit from playing from flash memory was saving took no time at all & without issue. At random times with the game installed on the HDD, saving my progress after completing a tournament event within a season would take an age and cause the in-game sound to stutter.
Hope this helps!
Cheers.
